Overview

Every $75 donated turns into $300 worth of food through the ASI Food Pantry’s strong community partnerships in Sacramento — multiplying the impact of every gift.

This year, the ASI Food Pantry is also raising $39,000 to expand its capacity to serve students year-round. Investments include a second set of after-hours pick-up lockers ($15,000), a new van loading ramp ($12,000), warehouse pallet shelving ($8,000), and retrofitting for the mobile pantry van ($4,000). These upgrades will increase efficiency, expand access, and allow the Pantry to serve more students when and where they need support.

Our Mission

The ASI Food Pantry exists to provide food and basic necessities to Sac State students with financial hardships and low food security, at no cost. In addition to helping alleviate hunger within our student community, the ASI Food Pantry aims to decrease the negative impact that low food security has on the academic success of our students.

Location (University Union)

We are located on the 1st Floor of the University Union. Enter from the north part of the building and look for the ramp leading down to our entrance door.

We are located across from the Tschannen Engineering Building (TEB) with the murals.

What it actually looks like: A severity spectrum – from worry (92.7%) to not eating for a whole day (13.2%).

Myth: Higher income households can’t be food insecure.

What is Friendsgiving Feast?

Each Thanksgiving, the ASI Food Pantry hosts two days of Friendsgiving Feast, a warm and vibrant community gathering with free lunch buffet, crafts, music, and games! This November, we’re creating a space for everyone to come together, enjoy a festive meal, and experience the true spirit of Thanksgiving.
