Welcome to the ASI Food Pantry!

Overview Ryan Choi

REGISTRATION FORM – FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2023-2024

Our Mission

The ASI Food Pantry exists to provide food and basic necessities to Sac State students with financial hardships and low food security, at no cost. In addition to helping alleviate hunger within our student community, the ASI Food Pantry aims to decrease the negative impact that low food security has on the academic success of our students.

Eligibility & First-Timers

The ASI Food Pantry provides basic necessities such as: non-perishables, fresh produce, and toiletries. Currently enrolled Sac State students can shop at the ASI Food Pantry or place a locker order once per week.

At your first visit, you will need to bring your physical OneCard and complete our New User Registration Form, which helps us better understand your needs and provide referrals to other great campus resources.

Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the ASI Food Pantry! We can’t do this work alone!

Volunteers Needed for Greeting, Stocking, Inspection, and Washing

With guidance and training from staff, volunteers work in teams to assist students during open hours and behind-the-scenes across our facilities. The ASI Food Pantry is open MTRF 11:30am-3pm and W 11:30am-6pm.

Volunteer Drivers Needed

We are also seeking volunteer drivers and route partners to support our food recovery program. Two volunteers work as a team to pick up donations from grocery stores, bakeries, and the Sacramento Food Bank. Volunteer drivers operate a cargo van (no CDL required) and must be comfortable repeatedly lifting and carrying 10-40 pounds, standing and kneeling.

The route begins at Sacramento State in the morning on Monday’s at 7:30am and lasts 2.5 hours. We are seeking a 4 month commitment for volunteers who can help three to four times per month. If you are interested, please contact Ryan Choi: ryan.choi@csus.edu or 916.278.3978 (call/voicemail).

Lockers

The purpose of these lockers is to increase accessibility to the ASI Food Pantry by allowing students to pick up food outside of the Food Pantry’s opening hours.

Orders must be placed at least 24 hours before the scheduled pick-up time.

This is a great option for students with a busy schedule.

Please note that utilizing the lockers will count as your weekly visit.

Pick up times are limited to the University Union’s opening hours.

The ASI Food Pantry Lockers are located on the first floor of the University Union next between The Store and the ASI SEO Office.
