Candidate Statement:

Hello, my name is Daniella Pierre, and I am honored to run for black honors college director. As a dedicated student, leader, and double major, I understand the discipline, balance, and determination it takes to pursue excellence while staying rooted in community.

My past leadership experience has prepared me for this role. I served as Black student union president for three years and a youth senator for the black students of California United for two years. In these roles, I implemented inclusive initiatives and coordinated impactful campus events that strengthened unity and visibility. I also served a peer advocate, supporting students through complex academic systems, ensuring their voices were heard. These positions, along with other helped me develop strong research, public speaking, and organizational skills that allow me to think critically and lead with clarity. Across every role, I have prioritized structure, communication, and accountability.

As director, my goal is to make the Black honors college more organized, more connected, and more powerful in its presence. I want to streamline communication, improve programming coordination, and ensure that our scholars feel supported academically and socially. Most importantly, I want to uplift our purpose; to showcase Black excellence not quietly but boldly.

The black honors college should be a space where brilliance is celebrated, leadership is cultivated, and every member feels seen. I am committed to leading with empathy, energy, and excellence. Together, we will honor our legacy and elevate our impact. There is power in our purpose.

Thank you,

Daniella PIerre

Candidate Statement:

Hello! My name is Ima-Abasi, and I am running for ASI Director of the Black Honors College. Over the past academic year, I had the opportunity to serve on the BHC Joint Council alongside other council members and our ASI Director, Chibuike. Watching Chibuike advocate for students and ensure that the Black Honors College stood in the spotlight as the first ASI Director representing BHC inspired me to step up and serve our community as well.

What do I bring to the table? A vision rooted in the strength of community.

I would be honored to represent you- to carry your voices, ideas, and hopes into the spaces where decisions are made that affect us.

There is a saying from our motherland, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” That belief is the reason I am running for this position. I envision a united community where our voices shape the environment and experiences we have as students and consequently, the future of the Black Honors College.

Over the past year, I helped organize events for BHC students through the Joint Council, and I saw firsthand how powerful it is when our community comes together. If elected, I want to expand those opportunities by bringing more events that unite us, creating spaces where we voice our ideas, and ensure BHC students are represented in the rooms where important decisions are made.

My goal is to continue strengthening our community and reminding every student that you are not alone. Community is my motto. Community is my mission. And I would be honored to have your vote on April 22 and 23 to help make this vision a reality.
